UK Bingo Favorite Establishment Set to Expand
Bingo seems to be getting more popular than ever before in the United Kingdom and recent word from famed bingo industry leader Mecca Bingo has surfaced that they are increasing their customers by targeting a new demographic: those out to party and have a good time. With more than 100 facilities across the UK today, Mecca Bingo is hoping to build upon their reputation for a lively social scene and have been shifting their focus towards events such as karaoke, late night rounds of bingo and speciality bingo games such as Rock n Roll bingo. This has given them a total customer count of just under a million people in the 1st 6 months of 2010, a rise of just over 3% compared with their previous year. However, that is not good enough, say the leaders of Mecca, and they want to take things up a notch by bringing in live dancers and what they are calling ‘virtual snail racing’. Already over 4 million pounds have been spent on improvements for their halls and in the process, Mecca has ended its canteen style food for the table service.
These upgrades have lead the company to watch its age range fall from the early 50s customers who typified the early morning hours to those in their mid 40s and under during the later hours of service. Ian Burke, the chief executive for Mecca has said that the core customers will still be looked after because the business needs to remain stable, but they would like to see their core group expand to cover a wider range of ages.
